Saudi Aramco discovers 14 new oil, and gas fields
Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced that Saudi Aramco discovered 14 Arabian oil and natural gas fields and reservoirs in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter.
The discoveries include six fields and two reservoirs of Arabian oil, as well as two fields and four reservoirs of natural gas. Prince Abdulaziz cited that the discoveries will lead to opening new horizons for the Kingdom’s economic development and strengthening its ability to meet both domestic and global energy demand efficiently and sustainably for decades to come.
Aramco and Sinopec partner with Yasref
Saudi Aramco, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Company (Yasref) announced the signing of a Venture Framework Agreement (VFA) intended to pave the way for a major petrochemical expansion at Yasref, in Yanbu, on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement seeks to advance engineering studies for the development of a fully-integrated petrochemical complex at Yasref. The project includes a state-of-the-art petrochemical unit, a large-scale mixed feed steam cracker with a 1.8 million tons per year capacity, and a 1.5 million tons per year aromatics complex with associated downstream derivatives integrated into the existing Yasref complex.
Saudi Arabia Railways issues a tender
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) issued a tender for the lead design consultancy services contract for its ambitious Saudi Landbridge railway network. The project involves construction of over 1,500km of new track and is estimated at US$7 Bn. The main component is a 900km new railway between Riyadh and Jeddah, which will provide direct freight access to the capital from King Abdullah Port on the Red Sea.
It also include upgrading the existing Riyadh-Dammam line, a bypass around the capital, and a link between King Abdullah Port and Yanbu. Interested companies have until 15 May to submit the bid, which covers the conceptual design, as well as preliminary and issued-for-construction (IFC) design options.
KSBC announces new facility by NESR
King Salman Energy City (KSBC) has announced the groundbreaking of a 180,000-square-metre facility by National Energy Services Reunited (NESR) within the King Salman Energy Park (Spark), marking a significant step toward advancing Saudi Arabia’s energy localisation and innovation goals. Established in 2017, NESR is one of the largest national oilfield services companies operating across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia Pacific regions.
SEC receives bids for the construction of two 380kV substations
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) announced that it has received bids from leading contractors for the construction of two 380kV substations at Afif city in the Najd region. For the Afif 1 380kV BSP project, Al Gihaz Contracting Company submitted the lowest bids at US$256 Mn, while for Afif 2 380kV BSP, Al Babtain Contracting Company emerged as the lowest bidder at US$312 Mn.
For the 380KV OHTL projects, Al Sharif Group and its Indian joint venture partner KEC are the lowest bidders for two projects – the OHTL from BSP Afif PV-2 up to Ar Rass PV BSP and from Mowaih PV BSP to Afif PV2. For the construction of the 380kV OHTL from Afif PV-1 BSP to the existing network, the lowest bids came from Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic at US$37.3 Mn.
