Dammam and Eastern Province Construction Projects

Major Projects in Dammam and the Eastern Province

The Rig

The Rig is a first-of-its-kind resort built on oil platforms in the Arabian Gulf, around 40 km off the Dammam coast near Al Juraid Island and the Berri Oil Field. Developed by the Public Investment Fund through the Oil Park Development Company, with Saudi Aramco and the Eastern Province Principality, it spans 350,000 m². It targets over 900,000 visitors a year by 2032.

New Dammam

New Dammam is one of the largest urban developments announced in Saudi Arabia, with an estimated value of US$26.1 billion. Key districts include AlSharq Marina, AlSharq Boulevard, an Economic District and a Sea Walk, connected by the Dammam Bridge. The project is currently in the design stage.

Ras Al Khair Phosphate Railway Line Expansion

Saudi Railway Company is expanding the phosphate railway line linking the Wa'ad Al Shamal mining area to Ras Al Khair Port in the Eastern Province. Valued at around US$1 billion and currently in the tender for construction stage, the project strengthens the export corridor for Saudi mining and supports the Kingdom's industrial diversification goals.
