Growth in the GCC countries is expected to decelerate from 7.3% in 2022 to 3.2% in 2023, driven by the expected decline of oil prices from the highs reached in 2022, according to forecasts by World Bank economists. GDP per capita growth for GCC countries is expected to decelerate from 5.5% in 2022 to 1.8% in 2023 and 2% in 2024. The GCC is expected to post a fiscal surplus of 3.2% of GDP in 2023, down from 4.3% in 2022. According to the World Bank, the fastest growing economy within the GCC in 2023 is projected to be Oman, at 4.3%.
